Headed back down!

We all know how easy it is to get off track and start going the wrong way. Well, to be completely honest, I got off track recently. My lowest weight was 191.8 lbs since the start of my journey. This was my weight as of August 2nd. Today I weighed in at 208.8 lbs! Why the exclaimation mark? Why do I sound happy? Because, just 14 days ago I was up at 217 lbs. :( I know, aweful. But the good news is I got tired of feeling icky again and regained control. Now you might be wondering how I got off track with my weight loss. Let me explain.

I teach 9 classes every week at the Y. Yes, you read that right, 9 classes every week! Here is my class schedule:
Monday: 10am-10:45am- AOA(Active Older Adults- a low impact class that focuses on light cardio and weight and resistance training)
11am-11:45am- Water Aerobics(light cardio and resistance training with water noodles and water weights)
Tuesday: 5:30pm-6:20pm- Turbo Kick(High intensity choreographed cardio kickboxing)
Wednesday: 9am-9:50am- Turbo Kick
10am-10:45- AOA
11am-11:45am- Water Aerobics
Thursday: 5:30pm-6:20pm- Turbo Kick
Friday: 9am-9:50am- Turbo Kick
10am-10:45am- Water Aerobics

So if you do the math, that's 7 hours and 5 minutes of teaching per week. Plus, I do about 3-4 hours of personal workouts on my own at home ranging from Turbo down to strength training and stretching.

So, if I'm getting in 10+ hours of exercise a week, how on earth did I gain 25 lbs? It's simple. I stopped caring about eating the right foods. I stopped eating to live and started living to eat. There are no excuses for why I started eating the wrong foods. I just saw something I wanted and rather than thinking about my goals, I thought about how yummy it would be for the time being. I didn't think about how it would negatively effect me. Then there was the day when I saw 217 on the scale. My heart sunk! I remembered how difficult it was to lose 90 lbs and then how easy it was to gain 25 of it back, and in such a short time.

This happens to all of us. What did I do to change it? I stopped eating my kids' Halloween candy for starters. I stopped drinking soda again and stopped eating fast food again, with the exception of 1-2 times a week. When I do get fast food, I choose the healthier options again. I started drinking my Shakeology every single day instead of only 2-3 times per week. Wow, I think that was the biggest change right there.

The main thing to remember is that if you get off track, only you can make up your mind to get back on track. When I went to Indy to hear Chalene Johnson speak and she said, "Just decide. Flip the switch and that moment will be your catalyst!" that's when I made the decision to get back in the 100's and never get back into the 200's. I said goodbye to the 200's before and I'm going to do it again, but this time for good! All you have to do is make the decision to make the change that needs to happen in your life and decide NOT to look back! So, what are you waiting for? Just JUMP!
